Room Layouts Just Mouse Click Away

Website does heavy lifting, saves wasting paper

PROBLEM: You need to figure out how to lay out your living room, but don't want to finance your chiropractor's winter vacation.

SOLUTION: A website that does the heavy lifting for you, all with the click of a mouse.

IF you've been wondering how to bring your home designs to life without littering your floor with countless pieces of crumpled up paper (courtesy of discarded design ideas) wonder no more.

Thanks to the high-tech wonders of Internet technology, you can now go to the Icovia Room Planner (http://roomplanner.icovia.com/bassett/resources/icovia.aspx)
to do that without felling a whole tree for paper supply, while simultaneously sharpening your pencil to an inch-long stub.

The Icovia Room Planner is at once simple and ingenious. Once you log on to the site (and become a member), you have access to two options: prebuilt plans, or the freedom to design your own room. You can do every room in your house, from bedroom, to dining room, home office, even a youth bedroom.

To get an immediate picture of what a room would look like with certain items in it, all you have to do is click and drag accessories into your room from a handy display on the left-hand side of the screen. It's your choice to build on the prebuilt template provided, or to build your room from scratch. A handy menu lets you delete unwanted designs; it also enables you to save (and archive) good ones, and print out hard copies for quick reference. You can work on a sample layout without joining, but you can't print or archive the result.

Here's to saving time, maximizing space -- and minimizing physical exertion -- all courtesy of on-line room design.
